Now this is the race of Dual core processor smart phones . After the release of Samsung Galaxy S II and LG Optimus 2X whch both are Dual core processor smart phones its the turn of HTC. HTC announced it is launching the new Dual core processor smart phone named HTC Sensation.

Some of features of HTC Sensation are:

During the Launch in New Delhi HTC told that HTC will give a superior multimedia experiance .

How much better is Sensation that its ancestor Desire we will come to know later. We can only hope that Sensation will make Sensation in the mobile Market.

New Galaxy S 4G Video Ad, $129.99 Price on Amazon

This week, mobile phone carrier T-Mobile has made available for purchase on its airwaves a new smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G, touted as the fastest mobile phone available at the moment on the US market, and a new commercial for the device is now available for your viewing pleasure.

The wireless services provider is set to show to the world that its new smartphone is indeed one of the fastest such devices on the market, and the new ad is focused on this aspect.


In this video ad, the T-Mobile beautiful spokesperson Carly presents the new device to a blogger who is not convinced that the phone would indeed feature the touted capabilities.

Among the main selling points of the Galaxy S 4G, T-Mobile points at fast YouTube capabilities, live TV, and the pre-loaded Inception film. Basically, the phone would have all that a user would want in terms of multimedia capabilities.

What should be noted here is that the new ad moves away from the previous commercials that touted the capabilities of T-Mobile's network in comparison to what AT&T had to offer.

Those videos were meant at showing that the iPhone 4 was slow on AT&T's network, and that only T-Mobile's airwaves could deliver the true advanced speeds that any mobile user was looking for.

As for the new Galaxy S 4G from Samsung, it landed at T-Mobile with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier, but is currently available for purchase for much less through various retailers in the country.

For example, Amazon sells it at only $129.99 for new customers, and has it priced at $149.99 for those interested in an upgrade.

With Android 2.2 Froyo included into the mix, as well as support for speeds of up to 21 Mbps on T-Mobile's network, the handset should appeal a lot to many users.

Tegra 2 Packing Eee Pad Transformer Briefed

Hybrid netbook/tablet solutions seem to have gained quite some ground in the last few months, with Asus as one of the main supporters of this trend, so we are happy to report that during the 2011 MWC expo, which takes place right now in Barcelona, Spain, we managed to spend a few moments with the company's Eee Pad Transformer.

Just as many other tablets which are supposed to arrive in the coming months, the Transformer is meant to run Google's 3.0 version of the Android operating system (code named Honeycomb) and is powered by a Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC.

As you probably know by now, Nvidia's second generation mobile processor is comprised of a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU, which is run at 1GHz, and features an ultra-low power GeForce GPU which can be clocked at 300MHz or 333MHz, depending on the model chosen.

The chip is capable of 1080p video decoding and is about 20% faster than the PowerVR SGX54 graphics core.

In addition to the powerful SoC, the Transformer also packs 1GB of LPDDR2 memory, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage space, a 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS display with capacitive multi-touch capabilities, a 5MP rear camera with autofocus, a 1.2MP front facing camera as well as on-board GPS.

An optional 3G modem can also be added to the list and, along the sides of the Eee Pad Transformer, we find a mini-HDMI video output, a micro-SD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a docking port connector.

The device is powered by a 24.4Wh battery and weighs just under 700g.

Adding the optional keyboard docking station will increase the size and weight of the device, but it will also improve its battery life and expandability options, as it features a second 24.4Wh battery as well as two USB 2.0 ports and another SD card reader.

Pricing has not been established by now, but the Asus representatives present at the 2011 Mobile World Congress told us the Eee Pad Transformer is expected to launch in May or June of this year.

HTC Showcased Desire S, Wildfire S and Incredible S

Today, during a press event held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Taiwan-based handset vendor HTC Corporation announced officially the launch of three new Android-based smartphones, namely the HTC Desire S, HTC Wildfire S and HTC Incredible S.

The new devices add to an already impressive series of smartphones that HTC launched with Google's Android operating system on board, while packing the company's own user experience, the HTC Sense, focused on putting people at the center through making the phone work in a more natural way.

“HTC developed the HTC Sense experience to bring cutting-edge innovation to our customers in simple and natural ways that just make sense - this is what HTC Desire S, HTC Wildfire S and HTC Incredible S represent best,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

“These new phones offer an exhilarating mix of style, innovation and features that extend people's mobile experience in ways that feel personal and completely original.”

The new HTC Desire S was sculpted out of a single block of aluminum, and packs a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, front and rear-facing cameras with High-Definition video recording capabilities.


The HTC Wildfire S comes to the market as an affordable, compact and playful handset aimed at providing users with an appealing experience on its 3.2 inch, HVGA display, complemented by the availability of a few color options, including black, purple and white.

The mobile phone also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, microSD memory card slot for expanding the available storage space, support for various audio and video formats, or fast access to social network sites like Facebook.


The HTC Incredible S packs a 4-inch WVGA Super LCD display, complemented by stereo surround sound, a fast processor, HD video recording capabilities with its 8-megapixel camera with dual flash, DLNA technology, and more.

According to the mobile phone maker, the HTC Desire S, HTC Wildfire S and HTC Incredible S smartphones are expected to become available for purchase in major European and Asian markets during the second quarter of the ongoing year.

ChaCha and Salsa - Facebook Phones From HTC

Today at the Mobile World Congress, HTC Corporation announced two new handsets aimed specifically at those who are socially active, namely the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa, which include fast connectivity to Facebook.

Rumors on the upcoming availability of these handsets emerged a while ago, and now they proved real, with HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa sporting a dedicated Facebook button for fast access to features of the social networking destination.

Both handsets come with HTC's Sense user interface, which was deeply integrated to include such social networking capabilities, the mobile phone maker notes. The phones run under Google's Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread platform.

“HTC has always understood that different people want different things and the new HTC ChaCha and Salsa offer special new ways to experience Facebook on a mobile device,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

“With more than 500 million active users worldwide, Facebook has become synonymous with the social web and we wanted to create the ultimate socially connected phones with mass market appeal.”

The Facebook button that HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa feature is context aware, designed to pulse with light when content or updates can be shared on Facebook.

Users can update their status, upload a photo, share a Website, ‘check in’ to a location and more with the simple touch of a button.

“We have worked closely with HTC for several years on bringing Facebook to their devices and HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa are the next stage,” said Henri Moissinac, Head of Mobile Business for Facebook. “HTC has brought Facebook to these two new devices in an innovative way enabling people to connect and share easily whenever they want, wherever they are.”

The ChaCha smartphone comes with a 2.6-inch, 480 x 320 resolution landscape touch screen and with a QWERTY keyboard on the front, a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and a VGA front-facing camera.

HTC Salsa boasts a 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touch display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, VGA forward-facing camera, and other smartphone features more.

The HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa smartphones are set to land on the market on Europe and Asia during the second quarter of the ongoing year. They will also be released in the US on AT&T's airwaves later this year.

Brief Review of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 Honeycomb Tablet

Many companies have convened in Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress expo, and Samsung was especially eager to show off its new tablet device, a certain Galaxy Tab 10.1 that we were able to get a better feel of.


It seems to be a more advanced sort of ARM-powered device, based on the Tegra 2 SoC form NVIDIA, which has two 1 GHz cores.

The platform is already known to be able to handle most sorts of multimedia files, even Flash and HD/Full HD videos, hence the display panel's native resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels.

In this case, Tegra 2 is coupled with 16 GB or 32 GB of Flash storage, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, USB, dual surround sound speakers, an accelerometer and a digital compass.

Furthermore, Samsung threw in two webcams, a 2 megapixel one on the front and an 8 megapixel one on the back, for recording in up to 1,080p.

All the above, along with a 6860 mAh battery, are crammed inside a package measuring just 10.9mm in thickness and weighing 599 grams.

Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia neo and Xperia pro

Along with Xperia PLAY, Sony Ericsson officially launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona two other new Android-based smartphones, namely the Xperia neo and Xperia pro, which run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, and which offer features and capabilities similar to those packed inside Xperia arc.

The Xperia neo was already spotted into the wild before, as it got reviewed before even being official, and sports a design unique to Sony Ericsson, with an ergonomic shape that would fit perfectly in the user’s hand,

Xperia pro adds an ergonomically crafted slide-out keyboard into the mix, with the subtle but fast Type & Send functionality, integrated messaging functions, and more.

The Xperia pro is meant to prove a great option for all business users who are Android fans, as it includes email, calendar and contacts syncing, as well as pre-loaded Office Suite Pro, so that one can easily view and edit documents on the go.

HTC Freestyle Available from AT&T on February 13th

Handset manufacturer HTC has silently introduced its first Brew-based handset back on January 5th, at the 2011 AT&T Developer Summit. The device has just been confirmed by the carrier for a February 13th release.

According to AT&T, this is the first of a new generation of quick messaging phones designed to run on the Brew Mobile Platform.

Also known as HTC F8181 and HTC Smart, the Freestyle appeared for the first time back in September 2010 and it is dubbed as a sub-smartphone because it runs on Qualcomm's Brew MP platform.

However, the Brew mobile platform has grown up to become a full operating system, as new functionalities have been added, allowing developers to deliver new UIs, applications, as well as services.

Brew stands for Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless and is an application development platform created by Qualcomm for CDMA mobile phones, but lately GSM support has also been added.

The main advantage of the mobile platform is that developers can easily port their applications among all Qualcomm devices.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7225 528MHz processor and runs on the Brew MP platform with HTC Sense UI.

It comes with a 3.2-inch HGVA capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. The Freestyle sports a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.

Other key features of the HTC Freestyle include HSDPA technology, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR support, built-in GPS receiver (AT&T Navigator), FM radio and 3.5 mm audio jack.

HTC Freestyle measures 106.7 x 55.9 x 12.7 mm and weighs 128g (battery included) and is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery.

HTC Freestyle is also the first quick messaging phone to feature the HTC Sense experience with customizable widgets and FriendStream app for social networking integration.

The device will be available for $99.99 after a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate, and it requires an unlimited messaging plan.

Sprint Galaxy Tab Receives Minor Maintenance Update

Sprint has announced its customers that it has released a minor firmware update for Galaxy Tab owners. The maintenance update is being pushed over-the-air (OTA) from Google's servers and cannot be done manually.

According to the carrier, the update has started to reach customers since February 7th and will be delivered in stages with all Sprint Galaxy Tab devices expected to receive it within 5 days.

Initially, Sprint's roll out schedule was set to 4 days, but recently the carrier stated that the update would be delivered by Friday evening, February 11th.

Samsung Galaxy Tab update EA24 is a minor maintenance firmware update that brings a few enhancements and fixes:

- New drivers for LCD supplier;
- QIK software update to 0.04.77 (will overlay existing version);
- Exchange email fixes.

For those who haven't received the update yet, it is likely that their devices haven't been included in the first two days' batch.

There's no reason to try and check for the update from the device, as the manual download is not available for this update.

For those out of the loop, Galaxy Tab packs a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, video recording capabilities (720x480@30fps), but also a 1.3-megpapixel secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Galaxy Tab is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (PowerVR SGX540 graphics) and features full HD video playback capabilities (up to 7 hours) and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

Other key features of the Android tablet include Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support, proprietary USB 2.0, 512 MB RAM, 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16Gb card included).

Samsung has recently announced that its first Android tablet, Galaxy Tab topped 2 million units sold since its launch in October last year. Galaxy Tab is currently retailed in 94 countries through no less than 200 mobile carriers.

Fring has just announced that the owners of Android-based smartphones can now enjoy a new version of their mobile application, released with a nice range of enhancements so that users would benefit from better video calls, voice calls, or chat.

ASTEROID Car Receiver Powered By Android Unveiled

Without a doubt, CES 2011 is gearing up to be full of pleasant surprise, the latest we've managed to come across being the Parrot ASTEROID, a car multimedia receiver that works on the Android operating system.

First and foremost, we'll have to point out that this 1-DIN device comes equipped with a detachable faceplate (in order to deter theft) on the left side, while its right side is occupied by a 3.2-inch TFT color display, that provides quick and easy access to a host of information, including phonebook, menus, music, playlist, album covers, internet applications and services.

Moreover, the left part of the receiver also houses the control buttons for the phone functionality (we'll detail this a bit later), plus a large rotary button for menu navigation.

The car receiver lets users play music from a variety of sources, including here USB flash drives, SD cards, MP3 players, the iPhone or iPod, and even web radios, when becoming 3G-capable with the addition of an appropriate dongle (and since we're on this topic, it's also important to point out that the receiver can also become a navigation device, by inserting into it the GPS dongle included in the sales package).

Naturally, since this thing includes a Bluetooth module, music files can also be sent to the car receiver from a mobile phone and via Bluetooth stereo A2DP.

Parrot ASTEROID also doubles as an advanced Bluetooth speakerphone, supporting the simultaneous pairing with up to two mobile phones and also offering users access a multi-user voice recognition feature.

Unfortunately, Parrot has not yet provided any pricing details for their Android-running ASTEROID Car Audio receiver, but they did reveal the fact that it should hit the shelves in the 1st Quarter of 2011 in France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, Benelux, while US customers will have to wait until Q2 in order to get their hands on it.

Xperia X10 Powered by Android 2.2

Sony Ericsson might not come up with an official Android 2.2 Froyo software update for the high-end Xperia X10 smartphones, but custom ROMs that enable users enjoy the benefits of this OS version already started to emerge into the wild.

The new ROM available for Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 devices is currently available only in a beta flavor, and can be installed through xRecovery.

The software comes from the XDA-Developers forum, and is described in this thread: “FreeX10 is a clean, fast and stable rom for Xperia X10 based on AOSP and CM sources.”

For those users interested in installing this ROM on their Xperia X10 smartphones, we should note that it requires a rooted 2.1 ROM to be present on the device.

As usual, we warn users that the rooting of any mobile phone results in voiding the warranty for that device.

It should also be noted that installing unofficial software in the device is sometimes quite risky, and that users should refrain from doing so, especially if they are not familiar with what the rooting of a mobile phone is all about.

As for this particular ROM, we should note that, being only in a beta flavor for the time being, means that it still comes with a series of issues, and that users might experience random crashes with it, or that the camera does not work as of yet.

The USB Mass Storage, the hardware video enc/dec + Youtube and Wifi DNS/DHCP / ringtone loop issues initially present with the software already got hotfixes, and the existing known issues might be solved in the near future as well.

Additional info on this custom ROM for Xperia X10, as well as the necessary download links can be found in the said forum thread.

While no OS upgrade will be on its way to Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 devices past the Android 2.1 platform version, users would still benefit from software updates from the handset vendor, it seems.

One of them is reportedly the 2.1.A.0.390 firmware update, unavailable for end-users at the moment, which should bring forth multi-touch capabilities.

More than Half of the Android Phones Run On Android 2.2 Froyo

Google's Android 2.2 Froyo platform iteration is accounting for the largest number of Android devices out there, being present on no less than 51.8 percent of the active Androids that accessed the Market in the two weeks prior to January 4th, 2011.

The latest data published on the Android Developers website shows that this OS version gained over 8 percent share of the Android distribution charts since December 1st, 2010, when it was loaded on 43.4 percent devices.

According to the said data, Android 2.1 was present on 35.2 percent of all active Android devices out there, down from the 39.6 percent it accounted for as of December 1st.

The charts show a newcomer too, namely Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which accounted for 0.4 percent of active handsets accessing the Market during the said time frame.

Older platforms, namely Android 1.5 and Android 1.6 decreased their share even more, being present on 4.7 percent and 7.9 percent of Android devices, respectively.

It's a common fact that Google is offering these details to developers, offering them a glimpse at most active Android devices out there, so that they could focus their applications on these OS releases.

Although Google calls it platform distribution, there are some who stress on the fact that this is actually the fragmentation of Android that is being showed here.

This state of fact might also be proved by the fact that Google has just unveiled a new flavor of the mobile OS, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which was built from the ground up to fit the large screen of tablet PCs.

Designed specifically for tablet PCs, the new OS flavor widens even more the gap between various Android iterations.

However, it should start appearing in these charts as soon as the first devices running under it land on shelves sometime in the first quarter of the ongoing year.
