s hard as record labels and industry people try to prevent leaks and illegal downloading of the materials from various artists, these attempts seem futile. With 2010 nearly over, iLeaks has several charts of the most downloaded (illegally) music of the year.
As any singles or album chart can prove, the most sought after artists of the year were the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Kanye West, Eminem and, of course, the ever-present Lady Gaga.
Artists
Gaga actually comes first in the top 10 artists provided by the aforementioned e-zine, with Katy Perry and Ke$ha next. Rihanna and Nicki Minaj round up the top 5.
Christina Aguilera, for whom 2010 was supposed to represent the year of her comeback but which turned out less successful than she expected, is at number 6.
Eminem, Taylor Swift, newcomer Willow Smith and Disney teen idol Miley Cyrus are up next, on the final positions of top 10 artists whose work has been most downloaded illegally in 2010.
Albums
Based on figures from iLeaks itself and Twitter feedback, we find that Rihanna's latest album, “Loud,” was the most downloaded illegally. Luckily for her, it was also a hit with fans who paid money for it.
Christina Aguilera, though, was not as lucky: her “Bionic” album leaked online in its entirety only a week ahead of the official release and then, when it came out, it failed to get the expected response.
At the same time, critics were less than enthusiastic about it, saying it underwhelmed for trying too hard.
Katy Perry's “Teenage Dream” also generated plenty of traffic, while the recently released “Pink Friday” from Nicki Minaj was the fourth most downloaded illegally album.
Miley Cyrus' first grown-up release (her words, not ours), a definite move from the Disney-made Hannah Montana image, “Can't Be Tamed” lands at number 5. Critics may have hated it but people sure seemed to love it, especially if it came free of charge.
The last five positions of the albums charts are occupied as follows: Taylor Swift with “Speak Now,” Robyn with “Body Talk,” Eminem's “Recovery,” Kanye West and his “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” dubbed the best music release of the year, and Kylie Minogue's “Aphrodite.”
Tracks

The top 10 of the most downloaded illegally tracks offers a few surprises, starting with the top position, which goes to Britney Spears and “Telephone.”
Lady Gaga shouldn't be sorry though that she didn't come first in people's preferences, as illicit as they may be, because she came very close: she's at number 2 with “Greatest” / “Then You Love Me.”
Katy Perry is third with “California Gurls” (ft. Snoop Dogg), while Eminem and Rihanna land in at number 4 with this summer's smash hit “Love the Way You Lie.” Christina Aguilera is fifth with “Not Myself Tonight,” her first single off “Bionic. ”
The top 10 of most demanded tracks is rounded up with “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith, “Only Girl (In the World)” from Rihanna, Miley Cyrus' “Can't Be Tamed,” “Roman Revenge” (ft. Eminem) from Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha's “We R Who We R.”
Videos
Not suprisingly, Lady Gaga's video for “Telephone” (ft. Beyonce) and for “Alejandro” were the most downloaded in 2010. Xtina's “Not Myself Tonight” was also high in demand on torrents, even if was just voted the worst music video of the year.
