Palm Pre 2 to Land at Verizon in Q4

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to add to its offering a new Palm device powered by the webOS platform in the near future, namely the Palm Pre 2.

The operator was officially named as the carrier for Palm Pre 2 in the United States, but no specific release date for the Palm Pre 2 on its airwaves was unveiled until now.

HP announced that the new mobile phone would become available for purchase at Verizon in the coming months, but it appears that we should actually expect it to arrive within weeks.

A recent document leaked from Big Red supposedly shows that the Palm Pre 2 is set for release on the carrier's network before the end of the ongoing year.

Not only would the Palm Pre 2 arrive at Verizon during the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, but the handset would also sport Mobile Hotspot capabilities, just as the original Palm Pre did.

Of course, the new device would also sport a similar look with the older device, though with upgraded hardware specifications.

Palm Pre 2 sports a sliding design, putting together a touchscreen display with a QWERTY keyboard, while including a 1GHz application processor inside.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes with enough internal memory to fit the needs of any user, though no microSD memory card would be included into the mix. On the back, Palm Pre 2 sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper.

One of the most appealing features the Palm Pre 2 comes to the market with is the webOS 2.0 operating system, which packs a wide range of enhancements over the previous flavors of the operating system.

The new mobile phone was already launched on the market in Europe, in France via SFR, and in the UK via HP itself.

We're already mid-November, which means that, in case Verizon and HP indeed plan launching the Pre 2 in the US in time for the holiday season, we should see an official announcement being made in the very near future.
