One-Click Root Access on Galaxy Tab

As if the Samsung Galaxy Tab on itself was not appealing enough, some thought of making the Android-based tablet PC even more appealing, and they found a way in which the slate can be rooted.

Gaining root access on the Galaxy Tab, as well as on any other Android-based device out there, offers a nice range of new options, which would be out of reach otherwise.

The best part of the story is that rooting the Galaxy Tab is not a complicated process at all, as there is an application that offers users the possibility to do so with a simple click.

Which one-click solution we're referring to is called z4root, though other solutions are also available for Android users. The application is available for download from Android Market.

Before hitting that download button, users should be warned of the fact that rooting the slate would void warranty, even if there are some manners in which one would be able to un-root the device.

As soon as one has downloaded and installed the z4root software solution on Galaxy Tab, one would have to enable USB debugging on the device.

According to a recent article on Pocketables, to do so, users need to press the Menu button, then tap Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.

The next step involves firing up the z4root application and then hitting the “root” button. As soon as the process is completed, the Galaxy Tab will restart.

After restart, to check whether the process was successful or not, one would have to start z4root again, which will inform the user whether the device was rooted or not.

At the same time, a successfully rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab will display a Superuser app in your app drawer/tray.

For the time being, rooting a Galaxy Tab would offer users the possibility to install applications otherwise unavailable for them.

However, there are great chances that the first custom ROMs for the Android-based tablet PC will emerge in the not too far future.

Just keep in mind that the rooting process means voiding warranty, and that things might not be too pleasant if the something happens with the device and it needs to be sent to repair.
