Windows 7 10.1-Inch Touchscreen Tablet Launched by Taiwan-Based FIC

Things are really starting to heat up in the Internet tablets' segment, with more and more products of this type built on either the Android or the Windows 7 platforms making their way onto markets from all over the world almost on a daily basis, the latest we've come across being the Tycoon TVB00, presented by Taiwan-based ODM manufacturer FIC (First International Computer).

According to DigiTimes, the new Win7 tablet will be released under the company's own brand in Taiwan, but will continue to be ODM-ed in other markets, following the FIC's well-established tradition.

Before moving forward to the Tycoon TVB00's hardware components, it's interesting to mention that this thing has quite an attractive design, although, to be perfectly honest, it really does resemble more a tablet PC rather than the much sleeker Internet tablets that have made their way onto the market lately.

Anyway, coming back to the hardware powering the tablet from FIC, we'll first have to mention that this thing is powered by Intel's Atom N455 processor, accompanied by 2GB of DDR3 memory, as well as an 120GB HDD unit for storage purposes.

We've already mentioned that the 10.1-inch display is touch-sensitive, but we'll also have to point out the fact that FIC has worked closely with Microsoft in order to enhance the display's functionality, helping it mimic the effects of a keyboard and mouse.

That's because, as FIC claims, although Windows 7 is optimized for touchscreen displays, it still works best when used with the aforementioned legacy control solutions.

As the same source mentioned above informs us, FIC expects to sell more than 1,000 Tycoons a month in the domestic market (where it's already started marketing it to telecom carriers), while expecting to reach monthly ODM overseas shipments of 50,000 Tycoons (no details on the pricing of the new tablet have been provided, though).
