Take Your Nikon D3S/D3X/D3 for an Underwater Adventure

It's quite a well known fact that most digital cameras (and especially DSLRs) are severely affected by the direct contact with water, but the possibility of taking very impressive photos while going for some underwater adventures has prompted the people over at Aquatica to launch a high-quality waterproof housing for the Nikon D3 generation of DSLR cameras.

As PhotographyBlog informs us, the housing will accept the latest Nikon D3S version as well as all Nikon D3 and D3X models and features a highly sensitive moisture alarm with visual and audio warning that is included and installed at the Aquatica factory.

Furthermore, the extra controls for the camera’s video features have been included and larger, more tactile control knobs added for better feel in cold water.

The redesigned controls include the set/record lever, Live View button, AF-L/AE-L lever, as well as the Focus/Zoom control knob assembly that sports an oversized indented knob for better feel in all water condition, while users can even lift it up to get the pinion gear out of the way so that the camera and lens (with zoom/focus gear attached) can slide out quickly out for swift replacement of the battery.

The bulkheads connectors are fairly easy to remove and replace, since they're supplied with a mini plug that connects to the circuit board inside, users being required to simply remove the small plug from the circuit, remove the retaining collar O-ring and pull out the connectors.

The Aquatica D3 range housing is available for around 2978.71 pounds sterling (4,796.61 US dollars), which is indeed a pretty high sum, but photographers who want to try out their skills underwater will probably cough up said amount, especially since it will get them a full kit featuring a standard viewfinder, grips, moisture alarm and dual Nikonos type bulkheads.
