ASUS Gets Real with the Windows 7-Powered Eee Pad

he revolution of Internet tablet has kicked off and ASUS is now jumping on this bandwagon with the introduction of its latest Eee product, the Eee Pad. Announced at this year's Computex show, which will kick off tomorrow , the new Eee Pad from ASUS is capable of running Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, thanks to the adoption of the Intel Core 2 Duo CULV platform. Unlike some of the other tablet PCs that have recently been announced on the market, ASUS's approach features a 12-inch display, which makes it one of the largest in its category.

ASUS's approach to the whole Internet-tablet craze, that looks to have got everybody really busy, is particularly interesting. The Taiwanese company preferred a mix of an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 12-inch display size, for its fully-featured, Windows 7-capable slate computer. Dubbed Eee Pad EP121, the new device is said to be capable of providing consumers with around 10 hours of usage, which isn't all that bad, considering the configuration and the power you get from this touch-friendly device.

The 12-inch tablet will enable consumers with a choice for two types of input, with a virtual keyboard or a hybrid dock/keyboard design, which might transform the Eee Pad into a fully-fledged notebook.

Obviously, for those looking for a more portable solution, ASUS has come up with another product, the Eee Pad EP101TC, which runs under the Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating system. There isn't much to talk about, with this device, but ASUS mentions some cloud computing services that will be available for their 10-inch tablet, something that ASUS fans might already be aware of.

Unfortunately, the full specifications list and pricing details are yet to be revealed, but the company is present at the Computex show and new information might surface in the next few days.
